A Distributed Routing Method for Dynamic Multicasting

چکیده
Abstract. Single point, sender based control does not scale well for multicast delivery. For applications, such as group video or teleconferencing a low total cost multicast tree is required. In this article we present a destination driven algorithm to minimize the total tree cost of multicast tree in a dynamic situation for the whole session duration. In this heuristic approach we considered the staying duration of participants are available at the time of joining. The performance of our algorithm is analyzed through extensive simulation and evaluated against several other existing dynamic multicast routing and also against one well known near optimum heuristic algorithm used for solving Steiner tree problem. We have further tested our algorithm using erroneous information given by the joining participants. Simulation results show that its performance does not degrade that much even when the range of error is considerably high, which proves the robustness of our algorithm.

متن کاملA comparative analysis on qos multicast routing protocols in MANETs
Simultaneous transmission of data from one sender to multiple receivers is called multicasting. Several widely used applications require multicasting at least at the logical level. Examples include audio video teleconferencing, real time video streaming and the maintenance of distributed databases. In many cases it is advantageous to implement multicasting at the level of the routing algorithm ...

Wormhole routing networks are emerging as an effective solution for high bandwidth, low latency interconnects in distributed computing and cluster computing applications. An important example (in the local area environment) is the 640 Mb/s crossbar-based Myrinet. A key property of conventional LANs, which is valuable for many distributed applications, is transparent, reliable network level mult...
متن کاملKey Management Techniques for Dynamic Secure Multicasting: A Distributed Computing Approach
Most of the Internet applications today require multicasting. For example, software updates, multimedia content distribution, interacting gaming and stock data distribution require multicast services. All of these applications require privacy and authenticity of the participants. Most of the multicasting groups are dynamic and some of them are large in number. Only those users who belong to the...
متن کاملAutomatic Link Numbering and Source Routed Multicast
We present a new paradigm for multicasting. Our paradigm combines two ideas: a simple distributed algorithm for automatically numbering network links with a small amount of numbers, and a novel forwarding method. We describe our paradigm in detail and discuss its benefits and drawbacks qualitatively and quantitatively.
متن کاملDual-tree-based multicasting on wormhole-routed irregular switch-based networks
In this paper, we will address a dual-tree-based routing model and propose an efficient dual-treebased multicasting algorithm with three destination-switch partition strategies on irregular switch-based networks. The dual-tree-based routing scheme supports adaptive, distributed, and deadlock-free multicast on switch-based networks with double channels. We first describe a dual-tree structure es...
